For those of you that do not already know me let me introduce myself. My name is Alexis Henshaw and I am a student at Metropolitan Community College. I am majoring in Pastry and should have my degree in 2 years. I am 32 years old and a married mother of 3. I have never been to college so this is my new adventure. I am fortunate to be going to school using my Montgomery G. I. Bill from my years in the U. S. Navy.
I am starting this blog as an extra credit project for my Culinary Foundations (CHRM 1030). The project is to create a blog and make 8 recipe's then write and provide pictures of them. Sounds like some pretty great homework right? Make delicious food, photo it, eat it, and write about it. I have gone over the list of recipes and have chosen the ones I plan to make. Watch for my posts and you can try them too because I will post the recipe's and the things that I did, even if it goes all wrong!
Here are the dishes I plan to make (in no particular order):
-French Omelet, rolled with Gruyere & Chives
- Eggs Benedict with Asparagus and Crab
-Med Rare Rib-Eye with Peppercorn Sauce
-Arancini (fried ball of risotto!)
-Chicken and Dumplings
- Short Ribs with Polenta and Parsnip Puree
-Julia Child's Beef Bourguignon
-America's Test Kitchen "Almost No-Knead Bread"
-Whole Roasted Chicken
I know I said I needed 8 and have 9 written here but I have one as a backup!
Please enjoy my experiences and maybe try these out for yourself!
Thanks!
Alexis
I look forward to following your adventures in cooking, Alexis! I am curiously awaiting some of your recipes...especially the dishes I already cook to see how they differ from mine. I'm always adjusting my recipes to see if I can make them better.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Can't wait to see your recipes!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to read your trials and tribulations as you describe what worked and what did not. Remember you learn as much from your successes as you do your failures. So please pass on what doesn't work if for instance your eggs benedict bounce across the room. I am VERY proud of you for striving for your dreams.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to gain more lbs by your showering me with love (food). You know the quickest way to your man's heart is through his tummy! I'm proud of you finally starting college and doing something for yourself for a change. Love you babe. -Me-
ReplyDeleteAlexis, I am excited to see all of your DELICIOUS recipes!! That just means that you have to invite us over more often now so you can cook them for us!! :D -- Abby
ReplyDeleteHave fun! And now you'll find new and exciting uses for the PC toys, oops, tools. Then please share them with those of us who have the whole catalog, thanks to you!
